About Due Process

Due Process was founded in 1981 in Suffolk County Long Island. Patrick Prendergast became president of the company in 1992 and has shepherded the business to include a wide service area now including the five boroughs of New York City, Westchester and all of Long Island. ( Montauk to Manhattan)

Our growth, through a steady determination in achieving quality service to our clients, has been and remains our hallmark. Service clients come from the largest and best known law firms to the smallest sole practitioner. Each client (big or small) receives the personal attention of our leader, Patrick J. Prendergast.

Patrick Prendergast is a retired New York City Police Department supervisor. He is a 9-11 veteran whose last assignment was the management of the headquarters of the of the elite Emergency Service Unit. He is the recipient of over twenty department commendations and has personally assisted the executive leadership of two tough police precincts. These two precincts received coveted unit citations in crime reduction and dynamic improvements in administration and statistics. The combination of determination, street smarts and proficient office management make our leader uniquely qualified to handle all the service needs of our growing clientele.

Mr. Prendergast is also a qualified investigator who led a team of analysts in identifying crime patterns in some of the toughest neighborhoods of New York City. Patrick assisted in the creation of several successful plans in reducing crime and keeping criminals off the streets.

Mr. Prendergast is a proficient office manager who maintained oversight in the affairs, schedules, pay/time records of over 500 police officers for several years. He is a trusted confidant to high level police executives and is considered an expert in planning and research.

These skills have all been merged into the management of this small yet efficient process serving, court filing and skip trace service. Now retired from the NYPD, Patrick devotes his daily activities to his family and the Long Island legal community.
